Billionaire investor John Paulson to divorce wife of 20 years

by | Oct 6, 2021 | Asset Division

John Paulson accumulated one Wall of Street’s largest fortunes after betting against the US housing market in 2018. However, it now appears a large chunk of his estate could be heading out the door.

The 65-year-old has filed for divorce from his wife of 20 years, Jenny. Such a split would be costly under almost any circumstances, but it could rank as one of the most expensive ever considering most of Paulson’s wealth was accumulated during the marriage. Furthermore, there’s allegedly no prenup in place.

The hedge fund manager first rose to fame following the 2008 crash, prudently betting against the housing market and netting himself an enormous return. Some experts estimate his total net worth at $4.8 billion, but others say it could be valued at significantly more.

The couple began dating after Paulson hired Jenny to work as an assistant at his hedge fund, Paulson and Co.

Protect your interests with the right divorce attorney

Most of us aren’t billionaires, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have assets worth protecting. Winning a divorce means protecting the future that you’ve built for yourself.

An experienced divorce attorney can ensure your interests are protected in the event of spousal separation. They understand the nuances of the law and can craft a bespoke legal strategy around your unique interests.

Additionally, a divorce attorney is more than just a professional in a suit. They appreciate the circumstances facing their client, lending candid advice and an empathetic voice throughout the process.

Winston-Salem residents shouldn’t hesitate to reach out. The early stages of a divorce disproportionately impact the outcome. If cost is a concern, many lawyers offer a free initial consultation at no out-of-pocket cost to the client.
